Because everyone has their own presenting style. A personal advice.

Every training is unique, for everyone is looking for an addition that fits their own context. Our trainings are never standard, always it is given their own twist, based on current news and the public. This also means there is something for everyone – if not with us than surely with one of our partners – and we have a fitting proposal for every budget.

What we do

In our propositions we differ between workshops and trainings.

During workshops we focus on a specific topic. The session is very approachable and there is lots of space for examples and exercise. Especially nice to get your friends and colleagues in the league again by introducing them to something new. Workshops generally take about 3 hours.

During trainings we use the basis of theory to work towards a practical solution. There is more attention for the actual content and there is more individual offered to continue working on your skills after the training. Trainings take at least a full day (or two half days).

Below you can find some examples on workshops and trainings.

Historical mistakes – politicians don’t debate

Supposedly, debate having its origin in the politics, politicians should be the best example for it. However, generally the opposite is the case. There are plenty examples of wriggling politicians trying to ditch the rules, cut off the corners and expect to come off easy. With as a result that just as often they lose dramatically. In this workshop these stories are shared, giving you a nice insight in what better (not) to do when trying to convince someone.

Classical rhetorics

The base for rhetorics or eloquence can be found in Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. Not just in the sense of a nice wrap of your words, but also a convincing content. Everyone in the ancient empires had to defend themselves when ending up in front of a judge. To be able to tell your story in a well, fluent and convincing way therefore became a necessity. Later, when the democracy and ‘people’s meetings’ were introduced, rhetorics became even more popular. During this workshop the most important element, together with examples that speak for themselves are shared. Guaranteed you go home with one of the most beautiful speeches you ever made.

Scientific argumentation

Scientific argumentation is centered around logical reasoning and argumentation. One uses existing knowledge and newly found results and links them in a convincing way to conduct a response to the research question. While this sounds quite straightforward, argumentation itself is complex and includes many different elements. Writing down an argumentation, pitching it to your supervisor, promotor or your grandma are complete different things. During this training we focus on the design of argumentation frameworks in science and the many different models we use for it. Additional to the use in writing of these models, the second part of the training is focussed on the transfer of that information in different ways, including and excluding media. The outcome of the training is that the participants have both theoretical and practical tools for constructing an argumentatively sound support for research purposes and to recognize elements of a functional and coherent presentation.

Presenting in style

We are all constantly busy giving presentations. Whether you report on your tasks for the coming week at work, tell the neighbor about the vacation, or explain to your mother why you really need to go to that party. But giving a good presentation is a whole different story in and of itself. This course is for anyone who wants to master the intricacies of presenting and speaking for groups. No standard theory and general explanation, but attention to your personal strength. From using rhetorics to tricks to keep your nerves under control. And finally there is attention for asking and answering questions and responding quickly to each other. With numerous exercises you will notice that you will be more comfortable and better prepared for a presentation. You have gained more insight into your strengths where you can work with in the future and you can give a convincing presentation in form and content. Are you ready to amaze the audience?

Reason and presentation do the trick

This training has been specially developed for people who are active in politics. First, the basic principles of the debate are discussed. Which elements always come back, how do you recognize them and how do you deal with them. And of course, attention is paid to classical rhetoric. It is also important to look at good argumentation and refutation of argumentation. What is a good argument, how do you prepare it and how can you think about it at the moment. Finally, we look at asking and answering questions.
